After battling thyroid and heart conditions, Mary has needed support to provide for her family. Each week, Mary finds help at The Dream Center food bank where she receives free bags of fruit, vegetables, and grains. Mary says, "It makes me happy to come here."

Victor

Victor - DCD Graduate

After battling depression and thoughts of suicide, Victor's pastor encouraged him to enter The Dream Center Discipleship program. "My life hasn't been the same since," Victor says. Before coming, Victor took advantage of family and friends, but now he's "at the strongest point" in his life.

Rosie

Rosie - Change in the Air

At 76 years old, Rosie remembers a time when she was too afraid to leave her house in Jordan Downs. Though it is not exactly a safe area today, Rosie can at least leave her home knowing that there are people fighting for her rather than against. The weekly Adopt-A-Block outreach is focused on building relationships and changing the atmosphere of communities across Los Angeles.

Maria - Blessed By Adopt-A-Block

These two cute children are 2 of the 11 grandchildren that Maria pours love into each day. Maria's entire family, including 7 sons, lives in the housing projects of South Central Los Angeles. The Dream Center's Adopt-A-Block ministry provides food and essentials that her family needs. "For people in my position, this is a blessing."

DCTD - Teaching Valuable Lessons

The Dream Center Teen Discipleship is a residential program for youth in the Los Angeles area, struggling in the areas of academics, spirituality, character, anger management or substance abuse. Students leave our program with the skills necessary to succeed in and contribute positively to their families, schools, and communities.

Under the Bridge - Skid Row Outreach

The Dream Center's Under the Bridge ministry serves thousands of hot lunches each month to the homeless on Skid Row. In addition to meeting their physical needs, Under the Bridge volunteers pray with individuals and invite them to ride The Dream Center bus that gives them a ride to church every Thursday and Sunday.

Adam grew up in a home that was familiar with abuse. Looking for a place to fit in, he joined a gang at 12 years old and spent the next several years of his life running from authorities. He wanted to make a change and found hope in The Dream Center Discipleship program. He has since found a purpose for his life.

Joe - Blessed by Dream Center Food Bank

When Joe’s heart condition developed, he had no choice, not only to slow down, but to also stop working. “Initially it was hard, but I didn’t have a whole lot of choices because the problem was ongoing,” Joe says. Getting groceries from The Dream Center food bank has been a blessing to him and his wife, who have been dependent on disability checks.

Shelly lives a guarded life, and when asked personal questions about her life she is very detached and hesitant. Many people living in Skid Row have built up a defense against others. Thankfully, The Dream Center’s outreach has allowed Shelly to open up a little bit more, and receive a hot plate of food.

Randy - Lunch on Skid Row

Randy’s choice to use drugs for several years caused him to be homeless on the streets of Skid Row. After years of living a defeated lifestyle, Randy decided he needed a change. While on Skid Row, Randy has been able to receive plates of hot food from The Dream Center, where he is loved regardless of his past.

Dianne is a recent college graduate and single mother of two young children. She has not always had food available to feed her children, and has steadily tried to find employment. Dream Center volunteers have traveled to Dianne’s neighborhood, bringing essential groceries to feed her family, which has taken a lot of pressure off of Dianne.

This simple ministry of providing food for the physical and spiritual body allowed him to once again experience the love of Christ and rededicate his life to God.

Christina - Helped by the Food Truck

Christina is the oldest of five children growing up in the housing project of Wyvernwood. Her single mother works countless hours to support Christina and her four siblings, yet the income is not enough to adequately feed and take care of a family of six. A friend told Christina’s family about The Dream Center food truck that comes to her neighborhood. Through the outreach, Christina’s family receives free food to help her mother make ends meet.

Nick

Nick - Given a Second Chance

A year ago, Nick would have never guessed where his life was leading him. “I had a great life,” Nick says, “but that all changed.” After developing an addiction to gambling, Nick said, “Within a few months, I lost my family and friends, my fiancée, and I kept getting deeper and deeper in debt.” Since joining The Dream Center’s Discipleship program, Nick’s life has changed dramatically. “I’ve been a Christian my whole life, but I’ve never read the Word like this before.” Thanks to supporters like you, Nick and others are given a second chance.
